Privacy Policy
Inkling Board is an online whiteboard run by CeeKay Apps Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales whose registered office is 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use Inkling Board at inklingboard.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to Inkling Board only; the CeeKay Apps website has its own policy.
Using Inkling Board without an account
You can draw on a board without signing in. That board exists only in your browser tab. We do not send it to our servers, and it is gone when you close the tab. The only data involved is ordinary web-server logging described below.
What we collect when you create an account
- Account details. Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google or another provider. Sign-in is handled by Clerk on our behalf. We do not see or store your password.
- Your boards. Everything you put on a board (drawings, shapes, notes, text, and any pictures you add) is stored on our servers so it is there when you come back. Board names and timestamps are stored alongside. Pictures are reduced in size before they are stored, and anything embedded in the file beyond the picture itself is not kept. They are kept in Vercel's file storage at a web address that is not guessable and not listed anywhere, so that boards, share links, and exports can load them; a picture is deleted from storage once none of your boards use it, and all of them are deleted with your account.
- Share links. If you turn on a share link for a board, anyone who has that link can view the board's name and contents, and copy them into their own account, without signing in. The link does not reveal who you are. It stops working as soon as you turn it off or delete the board; turning it back on creates a new link. Only share a board with people you are happy to show it to, and remember that a link can be passed on.
- Plan and billing status. Which plan you are on and whether a subscription is active. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive your full card number.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider records standard request logs, including your IP address, browser type, and the pages and API calls you make. We use these for security and to fix problems. We also use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views: it sets no cookies, records each view anonymously, and tells repeat visits apart only by a hash of the request that Vercel discards after 24 hours, so it cannot be linked back to you. There is no advertising tracking.
How we use it
- To provide the service: saving your boards, showing them to you, and enforcing your plan's limits.
- To take payment for the Pro plan and manage your subscription.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults.
- To reply when you contact us.
Under UK data-protection law our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (the service and billing), our legitimate interests in running a secure and reliable service, and your consent where you choose an optional sign-in provider. We do not sell personal data and we do not use your boards to train anything or for marketing.
Who processes your data
We use a small number of providers to run Inkling Board. Each processes data only on our instructions.

These providers are based in the United States. Transfers are covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, or an equivalent recognised safeguard.
How long we keep it
- Your boards stay until you delete them or delete your account.
- Account details stay while your account exists. When it is deleted, your boards and plan records are removed with it. Only the account's internal identifier is kept afterwards, so that a request still in flight cannot recreate deleted data. It is not linked to your name, email address, or any board content, and it is removed by routine cleanup once it is 30 days old (cleanup runs whenever the service starts up or processes another deletion, so removal happens shortly after that point).
- Billing records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, normally six years.
- Server logs are kept for a short period, typically no more than 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. You can export any board as a PNG at any time from within the app. To delete your account and all of your boards, or to exercise any other right, email hello@ceekayapps.com from the address on your account. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
Inkling Board uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, set by Clerk on our domain. Your drawing-tool preferences are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
Inkling Board is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we make a material change to this policy we will show a notice in the app and update the date at the top. Continued use after the change means you accept the updated policy.
